The photographs in this book do not show any racing at full speed; riders are absent, and yet it is a cycling book.
This is the fastest past of a bicycle race.
As soon as the peloton has disappeared from view the photographer shoots his pictures. Only seconds later. That is what he did in 2009. In 2008 he followed the peloton with a 24-hour delay and saw the empty stands, the last remnants of the race.
The photographer investigates whether there is a witness left. Whether something has remained of that rushing
peloton. Or has the Tour really vanished?
The riders are gone, you do not see anything anymore, but when you are patient you can still hear the peloton rustle.
And your thoughts haunt you.
The photographer captures them, in pictures.
